A Little About Me
Why Do I Blog?
I’m currently a medical student studying at Leicester. It was the people I met here who first motivated me to get in shape. They planted the idea in my head and I initially learnt a lot from them. But they weren’t the only driving force. In fact it was a single, specific occurrence in summer that led to me kick-starting my fitness (something I’d prefer not to talk about, but I hear a lot of people who succeed in changing their lifestyle, have a kind of” eureka” moment. This was mine).
After taking up weight lifting and running seriously, training hard all summer, I managed to shed 2 stone and packed on a bit of muscle. This blog isn’t a journal. I’m not going to post about my vital stats or about how I fell off the wagon and ate a full tub of Ben and Jerry’s. I want to blog to inform, to help people out who are struggling, or to get people started out. I want to be able to use my personal experience for your benefit.
What Have I Got To Write About?
So my experience is pretty limited, I’ve not been in the fitness and exercise game long, surely I only have so much to write about. True! However if you’ve ever succeeded in getting in shape and staying that way, you know that fitness is a lifestyle, not just a passing fad. Staying active has become one of my passions, and it’s constantly developing in new and interesting ways. As it does, I’ll write about it. Hopefully as well as keeping me entertained, it will help to motivate anyone who reads this. Maybe I’ll give you a new idea to re-energise tired, old routine. Maybe I’ll just give you an idea for starting out.
How am I qualified to help?
In short – I’m not. I have absolutely no qualifications that anyone should care about. I’m not a personal trainer, I’ve never worked in a gym. I’m not nor will I ever be a dietician. I am however, studying to be a doctor, so I’d like to think I have a pretty good understanding about exercise physiology and how the body works. Hopefully I can give you some pretty good advice. Having said that I’m NOT a Doctor, and this should NOT be taken as medical advice!
Hopefully you take something away from this blog, whether it’s just an entertaining read, or a bit of advice that helps you take the next step to achieving your goals (sorry if that sounded soppy!)
